The series of 12 oil paintings on mat board was initiated from a couple of conversations on local history in Dimboola Victoria and an old Chinese gardeners yoke I saw. Chinese market gardeners were a fact of life in many country towns in the early days of Australian settlement...a fact many have forgotten.

Series of twelve images relating to chinese Market Gardeners...they still are the best at growing good vegetables!

Each painting is 30x30cm, painted on gessoed archival board. Set 12 framed to suit (either singly or in one large frame -buyers choice)
$ 1795.00

No 1. The Coolie hat

This painting is done with an impasto of ultralight polyfiller for texture.Note how the light is captured by the rough surface.

Heads down - backs busy.

Heads down hints at the concentration needed to sow the tiny seedlings in the endless furrows.
